With Christmas just around the corner there is no more magical place in the world then Lapland.
I have travelled to Lapland a couple of Christmases back and the day experience is the most magical way to enjoy the festive season.
Flights depart most local airports such as Humberside, Leeds or Doncaster and the day experience is enough time to enjoy that prefect Christmas break.
You will leave around 7 am with a flight of around 3 hours; Finnish Lapland is 2 hours ahead of the U.K. so you will arrive around 12:00.
With the early start the airport is even decorated with staff dressed up as elves and check in all dressed up. The day is made perfect by everything being planned for you with perfect precision. When you arrive due to how far north you are there is around just 1 hour of daylight before its dark, the snow however gives you a light feel and this just makes is more Christmassy. Your first stop from the airport is to get kitted out with thermals as temperatures get very low around minus 20 degrees.
You can then start the many activities to commence the day such as Sledge ride, Snowmobiles, Arctic circle crossing and the all important private visit to see Santa.
Your day is a fully inclusive day due to the prices in Lapland this is important. You may even get a chance to have a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine. Children will love making a snowman.
If you have a clear day your day may finish with a glimpse of the Northern lights this is a spectacular phenomenon that happens from November to March.
The flights depart from Lapland around 9pm and getting back to the U.K. at 10pm
There are still some trips left for 2014 or if you book early trips will be on sale soon for 2015 some may have a limited number of FREE child places for booking early.
